THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 24, 2020 (8 HOUR CLASSES)

FIVE ALARM LEADERSHIP PROGRAM™ (Lecture) with FDNY Battalion Chief (Ret.) John Salka ($75.00)

As in life, the business world faces change on a daily basis. How a business reacts to change often has a direct impact on whether that business succeeds or fails. Failure is often the product of poor planning. The fireground is where battles are fought, and if we fail it is often with disastrous results. In the business world, if a business fails, it can be disastrous for the leaders; the team; and, most of all, the customers.

This program takes the strategy and tactics used by today's fire service leaders and applies them to the business community. What is revealed is how the Incident Management System (IMS), a nationally recognized methodology used at every fire or major disaster, when applied to a business operation, can ensure successful and productive results no matter what obstacles or challenges you may face.

Class Size: 150 Students

"Do it Yourself" Engine Company with Brothers In Battle Training (H.O.T.) ($125.00)

This small class will go over the basic principles and practices that a short staffed engine company needs to be proficient in when arriving first due to a fire and additional help is several minutes away.

We will cover skills and techniques including masking up skills, forcible entry, 1-2 firefighter hose line stretching and advancing, loss of water options, various search techniques on and off the hose line, victim drags and removal, all with a focus on problem solving, communicating and adapting to rapidly changing circumstances on the fire ground.

*THIS CLASS USES LIVE VICTIMS
DURATION: 10 HOURS

"To fight any structure fire other than from the interior when conditions are favorable to an interior attack and a thorough search of the building for victims has not been concluded does not merely constitute incompetence; it smacks of utter cowardice."
- LT. ANDY FREDERICKS, FDNY

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 25-26, 2020 (16 HOUR CLASSES)

Brass Tacks and Hard(er) Facts / Triple Ease of the Engine Co. (H.O.T.) ($250.00)

Join The 350' Line Cadre plus Mike Dowling, Jonah Smith, Nick Martin, Ron Smith and Dave LeBlanc along with the incredible team from Elkhart Brass...

This program will be a deep dive into the gamut that is the Engine company discipline, specifically, heightening awareness to the various types of equipment that create fire streams and developing a basic understanding of the different types of nozzles in use today. It exposes the following critical factors contributing to success of the firefighter interaction with this equipment: Flow, function, relationship of pressure to GPM, and limitations due to nozzle reaction. Specific manufacturer data will be presented to make a case for selections citing industry trends, as well as discussing instigating change, committee development, and trial benchmarks.

The Triple Ease of the Engine Company will focus on the perfecting the primary responsibility of the Engine company, placing a hose line in service and fire extinguishment. Students will look and different methods of hose line deployment based on different hose load choices, and drill on techniques to minimize time from “On Scene” to “Water on the fire.” By setting the Engine up for success, being fundamentally sound at stretching hose lines, masking up efficiently, and correctly operating the tools at their disposal, students will gain confidence and competence when operating on the fire ground.

Proven Expectations of Today's Truck Company and Magic City Truck School (H.O.T.) (16 Hours Fri/Sat) ($250.00)

Join an incredible cadre of instructors including Dan McMaster (Alexandria FD), Doug Mitchell (FDNY), Mike Ciampo (FDNY) and Sam Hittle (Wichita FD) along with many more.

This class will feature an all-inclusive look at the expectations of the Truck company on today’s fires. The modern Truck company is asked to accomplish some of the most varied and hazardous tasks asked of any fire company in the history of the fire service. These challenges can be compounded in departments with poor staffing and a lack of fire ground experience in the ranks. This course will describe and examine the tasks and responsibilities assigned to the Truck company, with a focus on fire ground decision-making through proper size-up and a thorough understanding of overall operational priorities.

Whether you are operating in a department that has dedicated Truck companies or not, the functions of the Truck company must still be accomplished to achieve success on the fire ground. The skill acquisition of these functions is necessary in order be proficient and provide the best possible level of service to both the citizens, and the other firefighters operating on the fire ground. Students will gain an in-depth look at forcible entry, ladder operations, and searches from a cadre with proven on-the-job experience over the 2-day, fast moving instructional experience.

Ground Ladders

Ladders are one of the most misused and misunderstood tools in the Fire Service. In this class you will learn how to conserve your energy, throw ladders effectively, and utilize them as a means of survival. When handled properly and with confidence your ground ladder program can run smooth.

Class Size: 50 Students

Hydrants 2 Nozzles (H.O.T.) w/ Dennis Legear (16 Hours Fri/Sat) ($250.00)

Hydrants to Nozzles is a 2-day class taking a detailed look at engine layout, equipment spec (pump/hose/nozzles) hydraulics and its direct impact on strategies and tactics on the fire ground. Students of all ranks will build a strong foundation for successes and be better prepared to make strategic and tactical decisions on the fire ground with a realistic working look at the gold standard movement of water from the Hydrant to the Nozzle.

This will include how to best use the equipment you have at hand. Including suggested changes to spec, deployment, and equipment layout to vastly improve pumping operations, fire stream development (both large and small), and apparatus placement. If not laid out correctly, or ideally, the factors that will be discussed in this class can, and will, alter your effectiveness on the fire ground before you ever put the Engine in pump.

This detailed approach, pre-arrival, will facilitate better possible extinguishment at all fires. A comprehensive review of common sense approach to Engine work, which will reduce unnecessary complexities on the fire ground. A recommitment to basic efficient supply and attack packages with a goal to fully maximize the property and lifesaving potential of the Engine company.

Real Fire Training - Advanced Irons Academy (16 Hours Fri/Sat) ($250.00)

As many tactics and procedures continue to evolve the focus tends to fall away from many foundational skills. No matter your stance on fire attack methods you will always need to access the building. However, many people fail to become proficient at accessing the building. Our Forcible Entry programs place a focus on understanding and building a system of steps that allow you to establish a foundation towards muscle memory structure.

We establish a basic understanding of leverage and mechanical advantage to allow us to maximize our body mechanics. Understanding our own body mechanics and make up will allow you to overcome weaknesses by overwhelming with your strengths.

Our goal is to get you intimate with your tools to improve your proficiency on the fireground. We provide you a progressive environment with props that will allow you build skill through repetition while slowly increasing the difficulty and work environment.
